SUMMER '99 |
|
| The following is a true story: Amman, Jordan, was occupied by a group of about 35 foreign students from June to October 1999. We seeked technical training in a country abroad and found friendship, warm hospitality and lots of fun (and a little bit of technical trainign as well...). The whole tour was organized and supervised by IAESTE, the International Association for the Exchnage of Students for Technical Experience, which we would hereby like to thank for the opportunity. A taste of our adventures is illustrated in the picture show on this site, together with our impressions of this great country.
The Tyche Hotel in Shmeisani served as the IAESTE headquarters during the student invasion of 99. (Shmeisani is a district in the north-west of the center of Amman, just at the end of the servis taxi line No 7, which is very fast and costs 100 fils=0.14$). Besides, the whole IAESTE crowd could sometimes be found in a green bus in several parts of the country. They were singing strange songs, eating Miss Raida's sweets, trying to see anything through what was supposed to be the windows, and travelling to the most spectacular sites in Jordan!
